Sunny Health and Fitness is based in Los Angeles. They import fitness equipment from China and Taiwan. That includes everything from jump ropes to kettlebells and stationary bikes. Although this brand gets a ”4” in our review, it would have a much higher score if warranties were included with their exercise bikes. Sunny sells pretty good products at very low prices.

Sunny’s online shop has more than 20 bike models and related products to choose from.

Some are upright, some are recumbent and some are a combination. Sunny Health and Fitness also sells indoor cycle trainers with heavy flywheels (40 pounds and up). Their most unique cycling product is a bring-your-own-chair pedalling machine called the Sunny Mini Cycle.

No Sunny exercise bikes include workout programs. Some have data screens. The main color schemes for Sunny exercise bikes.are dark gray/light gray, pink/gray and red/black.

Is Sunny Health and Fitness the best exercise bike brand for you? Here are some factors to consider.

The Great:

For costing so little, Sunny bikes get overwhelmingly positive reviews. Here are some features and qualities of the best Sunny bikes.

  • Good-Looking: Moving away from black or all-gray, some of Sunny’s bikes are accented with pink, red and other bright colors.
  • Easy Assembly: Sunny exercise bikes are some of the easiest to assemble. Expect to spend about 30 minutes.
  • Heavy Flywheels: Usually cheap exercise bikes have light flywheels, but that’s not always the case with Sunny Health and Fitness. Two examples: The heart of Sunny’s Pro Indoor Cycle is a robust 40-pound flywheel. The Sunny Indoor Cycling Bike gets a 30-pound wheel.
  • Steel Frames: These bikes have steel frames and up to 275-pound user weight capacities.
  • Quiet Operation: Few customers complain that this brand’s bikes are noisy, even when resistance is mechanical instead of magnetic. A good example of a quiet Sunny bike with magnetic resistance is the Sunny Indoor Cycling Bike. It has a 26-pound flywheel.
  • Good Pedals: The pedals include toe clips and straps to help with stability. Owners can easily affix any standard pedals to the bike frames during set-up.
  • Adjustable Saddles: It’s easy to move Sunny bike seats up or down. The adjustability makes them a good fit for almost any adult, with the very short and very tall excepted. These bike seats are comfortable if a gel cushion is added.
  • Adjustable Handlebars: The handlebars are adjustable and padded.
  • Compact Size: Sunny bikes are sized well for studio apartments and other small living spaces. Some, like the Sunny Folding Recumbent Bike, can even be folded for storage and transport.
  • Transport Wheels: Most of these bikes have small wheels affixed for easy transport.

The Not-So-Great:

Why doesn’t everybody choose a Sunny bike? One reason is the bikes’ simplicity. Of the nearly two dozen models, none has a console with preset workout programs. Here are some other potential drawbacks.

  • Limited Data: Some bikes by Sunny Health and Fitness have no data screen. Others, like the Sunny Folding Recumbent Bike, show the very basics: Time, Speed, Distance, and Calories. Several show heart rate too, but since the data come from a hand grip, the readouts aren’t medically reliable.
  • No Onboard Entertainment: Sunny bikes are just for riding, not for getting distracted too. Other indoor bikes have iPod-compatible speakers, web-enabled screens and other advanced entertainment features.
  • Bottle Holders: Not all Sunny bikes include water holders.
  • Warranty: No warranties are included with purchase. Very inexpensive warranties are available and might be a good investment.

Who Should Choose Sunny Health & Fitness?

The Sunny Health & Fitness bike brand gets overwhelmingly positive reviews from a wide variety of owners. It has upright bikes, recumbent bikes and indoor cycle trainers to fit almost any body size and workout goal. You won’t get much guidance about working out, but you could get a lot of workout time for the money.

The Bottom Line

Sunny Health & Fitness Pro is a pleasant surprise. Considering its low prices and absent warranties, we were expecting low quality — but these bikes suggest that what Sunny says is true: They import from the top manufacturers. If this brand started adding useful programming consoles to their bikes, they’d become more competitive.
